Books like this one are written to serve a party position. The author himself made this fairly clear. It serves to activate latent predisposition, and reinforce them with selective use of facts. Dr. Kua is after all a staunch party man, and he is doing what is expected of him, leveraging his credentials as a academic to further party views.

To his defense, this book is by far more academic than, say, Norza's latest limited edition book where he tries to come out as the person who defines Pak Lah's leadership.

DAP is taking a holistic political strategy that capitalises on the hope that in the next election, the increasingly narcissistic Malaysians will demonstrate a rat choice voting behaviour, and this book is but one brick in a campaign wall that they are systematically building.

Well, it's still worth reading, I think. There is always a need for more literature written about our history, at the very least so that it would open up the debate.

I suppose what I did not manage to make clear in the review was that I was expecting something else, rather than a partisan view of the episode. So, there was a lot of false advertising, as far as I'm concerned.

As for the British Intel thing, the author did somehow manage to convey that for the most part, the British were looking at it from their perspective and analysing the incidents from an advantage/disadvantage to the British govt. angle.

As for G Walter's comment ... I've no idea what he's been drinking, dude.

.."as a Malay in defence of the culprits instead of a detached and objective Malaysian observer.."

Where and how the hell did you come to that conclusion based on the piece above? I would love for you to explain G Walter (or shall I call you Dr Kua ;) )

The book is on my read list but the way it has been built up has put me off a bit. Especially when the author went on about the integrity and the gospel truth of his main source, ie the British Intelligence... hmmm the British Intelligence? Is this the same 'Intelligence' which found WMD in Iraq?

You accuse Dr Kua of being biased in writing his book but I find you equally biased in reviewing it, reacting more as a Malay in defence of the culprits instead of a detached and objective Malaysian observer
